Two Burglaries in Downtown Boquete - What Can We Learn?

This morning two burglaries were reported to the Alto al Crimen Boquete Hotline. Both took place in the vicinity of the Isla Verde bed and breakfast.

One victim has a resident ID, called the Hotline and the police responded promptly. The disposition of the other is unknown.
These burglaries fit the MO of what we have been referring to as the Alto Lino gang: They know the movements of the residents; they pick the low hanging fruit; they are very specific in what they look at and take; they like PC laptops and going through women's personal items. The perps always search through the women's bathroom and jewelry in great detail.

It is essential that we all understand how these crimes are committed, what they are looking for and how to prevent becoming victims ourselves.
One thing is for sure: being the victim of a burglary is as disastrous to your life as a serious car accident or a heart attack.

The disaster is both financial and emotional. One of the victims this morning stated that she no longer feels safe living in Boquete.

This is tragic for all concerned. And yet, it could have easily been prevented.

We have learned a great deal from this crime and others about how the successful burglars work.

We also know that they are reading our web sites just like you are now.
