Description
A home invasion occurred on Friday July 26th in David in a quiet development next to St. Augustine School.
This occurred to my next door neighbor as we we eating dinner 6:30 pm and it was still daylight. The thieves had been in the neighborhood on previous days scouting for a likely target and we had noticed their truck ourselves. Our neighbor is at the end of the street and a large hedge is between the houses obscuring any view we might have had.
The thieves went to the house and one asked for a drink of water. The housekeeper opened the door to them, was pistol whipped causing a large gash above their eye, was kicked and knocked out and tied up while the 2 thieves stole a large screen tv, jewelry and other small items in the house. The owners were not home yet from work at the time. The injury could have been much worse.
An accomplice arrived in their pickup truck, all goods were loaded and they made their getaway. We did not know what had happened until the police arrived.
Total time of the crime was less than 10 minutes.
Police arrived within 5 minutes of the call from the housekeeper who had freed themselves and called on their cell phone.
Be alert to repetitive trips by vehicles in your neighborhood that do not belong there. Never open your door to someone asking for water or directions if not known to you.
