Description
I was just notified of an elaborate scam that is being run in Panama City and the person that forwarded it to me was concerned that it might come to Chiriquí, co I will post the way it works.
It is an elaborate scam involving several people. They position themselves along a major route and will point at a vehicle's tires indicating a problem.
When you stop to see if there is a problem, they will tell your that one of your tires is wobbling and reach under the wheel well and remove what appears to be damaged rubber and spring and tell you the wheel is close to falling off.
Lucky for you they just happen to have a friend that works close and has a parts distributor and can bring the parts and repair it where you are.
They call their friend who shows up in a shop uniform and professionally dressed. They tell you that you need to help by being in the car and pressing on the break while they work.
They make noise under the car and use a jack to raise both sides of the car. After 3o minutes or so they say it is fixed. The people that were scammed were charged $1,300. After going to the location of the shop they found it didn't exist.
